Things to do in Los Angeles: Some weird and fun ways to explore LA

Los Angeles - City of Everything Fun. You can find everything there, from attractions to the naked celebs.

The Prince

Want to eat octopus tentacles while sitting on Naugahyde? Hell yes, you do! The oak paneling, oil paintings and moody red lighting of this historic Korean haunt will make you feel like you’re conducting some dirty business in a secret spy restaurant.

Feast on sea snails and squid parts?or just try the famous Korean fried chicken and the unusual yet delicious fruit platter. The drinks menu is generous, but the drink aren't cheap, so stick to something simple (bottled Hite, perhaps).

Museum of Death

Intense and macabre, this museum doesn’t flinch at life’s inevitable end. Its grisly Charles Manson and Black Dahlia crime photos are almost tame compared to the guillotined severed head of Blue Beard (the Parisian murderer) and the actual death videos.

It’s not all doom and gloom—serial-killer John Wayne Gacy’s clown portraits are colorful distraction, right? If you feel yourself getting woozy, you’re in good company—visitors pass out so regularly that the owners have taken to calling it a “falling down ovation.”

Bonus: Buying a ticket here includes a peek at the live Siamese turtle living (!) next door at the Chaos gallery.

This striking hotel is a dramatic mix of Morocco and Mexico, and oozes the kind of charisma boutique hotel designers so often fail to achieve. Built in 1925 as a YWCA, the Figueroa is now more exotic, but it's still an absolute bargain.

The hotel's airy lobby is a potpourri of Moroccan chandeliers, huge cacti and woven rugs; toward the back, there's a low-key bar and a lovely pool area that's at its atmospheric best after dark. The rooms, which vary in size, are done out in funky casbah chic with Mexican-tiled bathrooms. Mod cons are few and far between, but they're not really the point.

Los Angeles Beaches: Venice Beach

Venice Beach

The noisiest and brightest beach, located in the Los Angeles area in Venice, is a hangout for the creative and artistic.

  • It is so attractive not because of the 3-mile sand beach but because of the people who fill this place with the vibe of eternal holiday.
  • This place literally cries : "Amuse yourself!" Bicycle, people-watch and walk the boardwalk.
  • Be attentive! While strolling you can notice Harry Perry, the turbaned guitar player who has often appeared on TV.
  • Muscle Beach is a special place where fanatic bodybuilders participate in a public show of strength.

  • If you want to purchase some extraordinary gifts for your friends or yourself - head to the fancy shops on the Boardwalk.

Comments:

"What is there not to like about Venice Beach?"

I love how there were different people doing different activities. Whether it be working out at Muscle beach, balling up at the basketball court, skating on the boardwalk, or tanning on the beach. One thing you can't go without noticing though, is the strong smell of good weed.I prefer Venice than Santa Monica even though its a couple blocks away.

"Mixed feelings about this beach"

The beach is awesome, I love the ocean. But this one.. ehhh. I visited on Earth Day (yesterday), I don't know if that had anything to do with all the extra weed smoking haha. It was really interesting to see all the hippies & bums just smoking & passing in public.. and there was cops!

Lunch was good, can't remember the name unfortunately. But the performers aggressively asking for tips while you're eating, didn't feel great.. made me feel guilty.
Loved all of the dogs! But didn't like the random condoms on the ground haha. Parking is a b-word. We paid $10, we were there maybe around 4ish hours. We looked for parking for a while but finally just paid for it.
Be careful with your little ones.. there are some dogs that aren't on leashes & wouldn't want anything to happen to the children. Not to mention the people that hardly wear anything haha inn-appropriate for little eyes.
Still love that ocean breeze :)

Los Angeles Beaches: Cabrillo Beach

Los Angeles Beaches:

Since Los Angeles is situated on the coast, it is not surprising to find out that it is notable for its splendid beaches.

 1) To start with, let's take a look at Cabrillo Beach, wich is an ideal place for quiet rest and family holidays.

This relaxing place is located in the Port of Los Angeles West Channel, on a thin peninsula, and, depending on your preferences, you can choose between its two sides : the side wich is open to the harbour, and the side which is ideal for surfing because of its open position.

  • This point of the Southern California shore is the closest to Santa Catalina Island
  • Here, you can enjoy the following activities: swimming, surfing, scuba diving, windsurfing, kayaking.
  • As the whale-season comes to an end, begins another time of interest: grunion season.
These silvery fish regularly, under a full or new moon, lay their eggs on the sand.
This is the high time to try to catch them by hand!
  • After a beach rest, you may visit the nearby Cabrillo Marine Aquarium which provides you with the knowledge of the marine life of Southern CaliforGnia in an entertaining form.

    Comments:

 "Most beautiful at Low Tide!"

  • I've been to Cabrillo beach many times and the kids always enjoy walking along the rocks to the right side of the beach. Here you'll find tide pools galore especially at low tide. About a mile out there are a few sandy parts to the beach and small pieces of sea glass can be found all around. My kids and I love looking for the small rounded pieces of glass and we have found a few rare colors here. I'd definitely recommend water shoes or sneakers for this beach to make walking over the rocks comfortable.

"Good place to come for bonfires at night"

  • Parking is $9 but plentyfull, nice place to bring some wood & starr a bonfire on the pits available on the beach. But of course there may be a fire going on already there so come early.
